Update, 15 September: Following the network maintenance this morning we have seen issues with connections to the MyFiles service for some staff.  This has affected logon to computers, desktop icons failing to appear and slow or intermittent access to MyFiles. In addition, other services have been affected such as Print Services' web submission service.

Update,16 September: MyFiles has been stable overnight but additional work is needed to ensure the service is fully stable with the new network connections. Work will be taking place from 8am to do this.  We may see a repeat of the issues yesterday while the work takes place but we hope that the service will be back to normal as soon as possible.

IT Services has scheduled network maintenance work between 8am and 9am on:

  • Thursday 10th September
  • Friday 11th September
  • Monday 14th September
  • Tuesday 15th September
  • Wednesday 16th September

This is an essential upgrade to network infrastructure, necessary as part of a programme of work to maintain and improve the University's data centre.

The work was not expected to impact any services although a risk of such an incident is always possible when conducting maintenance on central infrastructure.

Work has been done to minimise the chance of disruption to services. However,  we are taking this opportunity to inform you that there is a possibility that services may be disrupted briefly when the work takes place.
