Issues with access to some US websites (now resolved)

Update 10.30am: The issue below has now been resolved by Janet and Level3, connections to US sites are now operating normally. If you have any other issues please report them to the IT Service Desk.

Certain websites hosted in North America are currently not available or are responding very slowly. This is due to a problem at Level3, a major US ISP who provide transatlantic connectivity to Janet.

Janet is the UK academic network which provides Internet connectivity to Bristol and all UK universities. We are in touch with Janet, who are in touch with Level3. Both are attempting to resolve this issue but at present we have no details on when this will be.

Please note that Google and Microsoft are not affected as they peer directly with Janet.
