[25 July 2014]

From the end of July the new Software Center [sic] facility will be rolled out to University Windows computers.

The Software Center will allow you to manage the installation of updates and to find and install software available to staff and postgraduate researchers.

You don't need Elevated User Rights or administrator access to install software from the Software Center.

The aim is to make as much software as possible available via self service.

If you can’t find what you are looking for in the Software Center then please contact the IT Service Desk.

How To find the Software Center

Once you have been given access you can find the Software Center by using the Start Menu to search for Microsoft System Center 2012 or open the Start Menu, and go to All Programs > Microsoft System Center 2012 > Configuration Manager, then click on Software Center.

Please note

During the installation of the new Software Center the Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) will change. This may well generate some pop-up messages and alerts on staff desktops. Please do not be concerned. The latest version of the software will be automatically installed.

Visit the Software Center webpages for information on the service.
