[09 July 2014]

During work on 8 July to replace damaged memory, detailed below,  IT Services were advised the remaining memory needed to be replaced urgently.

That memory has been sourced and the external contractors are available on the afternoon of Thursday 10 July to install the memory.

This will mean that the service listed below, will be unavailable between 2-4pm on Thursday 10 July.

We apologise for the inconvenience but this work is needed to fully recover from the incident on 3 July.

Following the power outage to the Computer Centre on 3 July it is necessary for external contractors to conduct work to replace damaged server components.

This work will take place between 1.00pm and 3.00pm on Tuesday 8 July.

During that time the following services will be unavailable:

  • MyBristol
  • Library catalogue (including self-service machines)
  • Shibboleth service (authentication service for on-line services eg. ejournals, Planon)
  • SAFS
  • Ereserves
  • Personalised timetables for staff and students
  • People Profiler
  • Datahaven / DiversP reports or services reliant on DataHub access during this period
  • Business Objects
  • Web Finance Reporting (Proactis commitment data unavailable)
  • Edit access to 'new' T4 CMS (access to view web content is unaffected)
  • Prospectus Editing Tool (PET)
  • Management of subscribers to a number of Sympa mailing lists (UoB only) will be affected. We would advise that messages to these Sympa lists should be avoided at this time.

We are aware that many departments have access to the DataHub and use the information to perform a number of tasks. It is therefore possible that where DataHub data is used to run a service that this may be unavailable during this work.

IT Services apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please contact the IT Service Desk if you need further information.
