Problems accessing services - 13 March - now resolved

There were problems connecting to various services this morning between 8am and 9am. This was due to the failure of a type of server known as a domain controller. We are investigating why the failover mechanism did not work on this occasion.

The server failure resulted in a problem with Active Directory. This affects services which use Active Directory for authentication. The principal service affected was SSO (single sign-on). This meant that users of other services, including MyBristol, Blackboard, SITS desktop and web clients, Syllabus+, were unable to login.
