Local UoB group management function in Confluence Wiki removed

Stickkies

[27 September 2012]

Due to security concern the Confluence's Wiki space local UoB  group management feature will be removed.

Space administrators will no longer be able to create local UoB groups or view members of existing space local UoB groups, or add or remove members.

We would advise administrators with confidential information on their wiki space to contact the IT Service Desk to confirm the members of the groups allowed to access it.

In future administrators of Wiki spaces will need to perform the following steps:

To assign space permissions

Space administrators should grant users access to their wikis on an individual basis. Details can be found on the support website "Assigning space permissions to users".

Viewing members of local UOB groups

A request should be made to the IT Service Desk. Please include the name of the group and the wiki space.

Removing members from local UOB groups

A request should be made via the IT Service Desk. Please include the name of the group, the wiki space, and the user/s you wish to remove.

Further information

While we are investigating alternative methods of group management it is unlikely that any alternative solution will be available soon.

Please note: This does not affect the auto-generated UOB organisational or department units which are centrally managed.

IT Services apologises for the inconvenience this change may cause.

If you have any questions concerning this matter please contact the IT Service Desk.
