Update 11 September: The replacement for the server seis.bris.ac.uk has been postponed. No new date has been arranged.The server seis.bris.ac.uk is no longer fit for purpose. IT Services plan to migrate the services to a new installation.
The service name, seis.bris.ac.uk, will be changed to point at the replacement service on the evening of Tuesday 11 September. Any new connections will then get directed to the replacement service. Any long running connections that are still going at 08:30 on Wednesday 12 September will then be ended, forcing the user to reconnect to the new service.
The replacement host will offer the following services.
The service will still act as an interactive shell server for all UoB members. It will remain directly accessible from the Internet.
The service will continue to offer static web hosting to users by serving $HOME/public_html as http://seis.bris.ac.uk/~abc1234. As a bonus, this will also be available over https://.
Access to the central website content will remain accessible to authorised users via /info/private and /info/www
Access to the files relating to the above 3 services are available via CIFS. This will remain.

The following services currently exist on seis.bris.ac.uk but will not be created on the replacement service.
The service seis.bris.ac.uk will be moved to a new IP (137.222.7.35). Legacy names (sis.bris.ac.uk and eis.bris.ac.uk) will become CNAMEs for seis.bris.ac.uk As a result the following IPs will be retired: 137.222.10.93 137.222.10.52 137.222.10.54
