Problems with the University website, 13 July

Parts of the University website were unavailable for a time on the morning of  Friday 13 July. The problem was caused by an overnight backup job taking longer than usual.

Although most sections of the site were back online by 10:30, attempts to access the University's home page still proved problematic over the following hour. The live video streaming of the graduation ceremonies was unaffected.

We have implemented procedures to avoid the possibility of future incidents but will be monitoring the performance of the website closely. Additional work is also planned over the next few weeks to implement a full solution to the problem.
