The IT Training Team are committed to developing the computing skills of staff and students. We do so by planning, developing and delivering programmes of training, learning materials and advice for University staff and students on the effective use of IT. In particular, we are the main contributor to the following programmes of skills training:
As well as delivering courses to groups of people, we offer one-to-one training and consultancy (especially on using the web and University systems).
To support courses and the use of computer systems we produce a wide range of documents, web pages, and other learning resources, many of which are suitable for self-study.
In association with the Institute for Learning and Research Technology, the team developed and manage COBS and the Skills Directory, which are also used by the Students' Union and several faculties to advertise the skills learning opportunities that they offer to students (see Who uses COBS).
The Library’s team of faculty and subject librarians provides support to students in making the best use of the information resources available. Your subject librarian can help you find relevant information from reliable sources for your assignments and will teach you the skills required to identify, navigate and use information resources successfully.
Subject librarians also provide guidance via subject-specific web pages. Please feel free to contact them at any time for further information or to ask them for individual help.
