Digital imaging training

Staff Development courses

If you need to capture, optimise and manipulate digital images as part of your University job, you can choose between two hands-on courses to equip you with the essential skills that you need:

  • Capturing and optimising digital images is a half-day course (3.5 hours) that focuses on image capture (through using a scanner) and optimising digital images for print and screen applications (e.g. web)
  • Creative image manipulations is a day course (5 hours) that focuses on more advanced image manipulation techniques, such as blending images together, adding text and applying special effects.

Both courses are aimed at people with no or little previous experience of digital imaging and use Serif PhotoPlus as the image editing software.

To find out when these courses are scheduled and book a place go to the Staff Development course booking page (if you can't see one of the above courses listed, it is because there are no more scheduled dates in the current academic session, please check again at the beginning of the next session)

Other training opportunities

If you need more specialised training, JISC Digital Media - based in 8-10 Berkeley Square - run a wide range of training workshops in Photoshop, using images to enhance teaching and learning, and building image collections, etc. Bear in mind though that these courses are subject to a fee (currently £150).
