Message Highlighting

If you are involved in several projects, it might be difficult to distinguish which messages come from, for instance, which project manager while browsing through the list of messages. ‘Message Highlighting’ lets you set the background colour of messages from specific people (eg specific email addresses) so that you can tell at a glance which message has come from where.

Please note: you can filter and file incoming messages into specific folders using SmartSieve.

Click on ‘New’ to create a new one, or ‘Edit’ to edit an existing entry. The edit rule page allows you to set the name of the rule, a background highlight colour and selection criteria. The parameters are described below:

Identifying Name

Enter the name of the rule you are creating. For example, if you want to highlight messages from a specific address that includes the text 'test', you can give this an easy to remember name, such as 'Test'.

Colour

This selects the background colour. You can choose between a number of pre-defined colours, or you can enter the hexadecimal code for the colour that you desire (ie a6b492).

If you choose to enter your own colour, you must also select the radio button in front so that it is checked.

Match

Here you can choose the matching phrase. From the drop-down box, you can choose which header field to match against (to, from, cc or subject) and in the text box, you can enter the phrase to match, which in the example above is 'test@bristol.ac.uk'.
