  1. Click the Start menu and select Programs.

  2. Open Messaging.

  3. Click New Email Account.

  4. Enter your University email address. Make sure that Try to get email settings automatically is not ticked. Click Next.

  5. Select Internet email and click Next.

  6. Enter your name and choose a nickname for your account, such as UOB Email. Click Next.

  7. Select Account Type: IMAP4. Enter staff-imap-srv.bris.ac.uk:993 as the Incoming mail server if you are a member of staff or research postgraduate. Enter student-imap-srv.bris.ac.uk:993 if you are an undergraduate or taught postgraduate. Click Next.

  8. Enter your University username and password. Click Next. (See: Guidance on saving your UoB password on mobile devices.)

  9. Enter smtp-auth.bris.ac.uk for the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Tick both boxes and click Advanced Server Settings.

  10. Tick both Require SSL boxes. Click Done, then Finish.

  11. If you get a message about a certificate not being valid, click Yes.

  12. Your device is now setup to use UoB email. To read your mail in future, click the Start menu, Programs, Messaging. Click UOB Email, Menu, then Send/Receive.
