Supported versions of Internet Explorer

Introduction

Internet Explorer 6, as supplied with Windows 2000 and XP, works fine with the off-site proxy. If you have an older version we suggest you upgrade or use a current version of Firefox instead.

Checking for the subrevision of IE

Start Internet Explorer. On the Help menu, select the option About Internet Explorer.

This will display a window looking something like the picture below. The appearance varies between versions of IE, but the format of the version number does not. The version number is ringed in red in the picture.

Supported versions

IE 6: all versions of IE 6 are supported.

IE 7: all versions of IE 7 are supported.

Obtaining current versions of IE

The best way to obtain the current version of Internet Explorer is by using WindowsUpdate.
