Virus removal tools
If you already have a virus on your computer you may need additional tools to remove it. To prevent infection ensure you have anti-virus software installed. These tools are available for personal home use:
- Malware Bytes This is the first tool we use at the Student Laptop Clinic to remove difficult viruses.
- McAfee Stinger Removes some of the most common viruses.
- Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool Remove some of the most common viruses.
- TrendMicro HouseCall online virus scanner.
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- Ad-Aware
- PC Tools Spyware Doctor Paid-for software, but a free version is included in Google Pack. Choose to download only Spyware Doctor.
- Trinity Anti-virus recovery CD - bootable CD. Useful when the virus has taken over so completely you can't run an antivirus package.
