NB the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) - based in 8-10 Berkeley Square - run a wide range of training workshops in image capture skills, digital imaging skills, using images to enhance teaching and learning, and building image collections.
Scanning and optimising images using Photoshop
- Description:
- This half-day course is particularly aimed at those new to image capture and those with some basic experience who want to improve their understanding and skills, as well as the quality of their captured images.
You will scan an image (provided) and use basic image optimisation techniques for the creation of printed and onscreen images in Photoshop. In doing so you will learn about the merits of different file formats (TIFF, JPEG, GIF and PSD) and how to maximise image quality (cropping, tonal optimisation, resizing, sharpening, etc.) for the intended output.
- Who is it for?
- This course is for people who need to capture images using a scanner and those wanting to learn how to optimise digital images for screen and/or print output.
- Pre-requisites:
- Confidence in using Windows, a keyboard and a mouse.

Creative image manipulations using Photoshop
- Description:
- During this one day course you will learn about layers and different selection methods (the basis for all creative image editing work in Photoshop), how to blend images, add text, and apply special effects and filters. You will also learn how to repair damaged photographs.
By the end of the course you should be able to apply these techniques to your own projects.
- Who is it for?
- This course is for people who want to learn more creative digital image manipulation techniques in Photoshop.
- Pre-requisites:
- Confidence in using Windows, a keyboard and a mouse plus some basic experience of image editing in Photoshop or a similar package (for example having attended 'Scanning and optimising images using Photoshop').
