Metabolomic and epigenetic biomarkers

Work package 2: Identification of biomarkers using metabolomics and epigenetics

Lead: Prof Caroline Relton

Work package 2 aims to identify biological biomarkers that cause or predict cancer risk and prognosis. Work package 2 focuses on metabolomic (the study of chemical processes involving the products of metabolism (metabolites)) and epigenetic (the study of variations influencing gene expression caused by external or environmental factors) biomarkers, including genome-wide DNA methylation profiling and H-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) metabolomics profiling to generate data for >200 direct and derived metabolites.
