NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) Award for University of Bristol

NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) - Evaluation of Interventions (HPRU-2012-10026) April 2014-March 2019.

The University of Bristol with partners at University College London, Cambridge MRC Biostatistics Unit, and University of the West of England have been awarded an NIHR HPRU of £3.85 million.

Information about awards to new public health research partnerships is available.

Health Protection Research Units will act as centres of excellence in multi-disciplinary health protection research in England, with the intention of increasing high quality applied health protection research. HRPUs will be partnerships between universities and Public Health England (PHE) in a range of priority areas.

Twelve topic-based priority areas were proposed – and University of Bristol, with our partners, was awarded the cross-cutting theme “Evaluation of Interventions”. 

Our HPRU has work streams on: Economic Evaluation and Modelling; Population Studies; Primary Care; Evidence Synthesis; and Behavioural Science.

Patient Public Involvement will be led by UWE in collaboration with University of Bristol CLAHRC.
