About the team

The EDI Team connects with internal and external stakeholders under a model of shared ownership and accountability to create an inclusive working environment where opportunities are open to all and where diversity is supported and valued.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a mix of people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.

Our work

We also co-ordinate a range of events and initiatives to promote an inclusive working community. Find out more about our previous work, including Black History Month talks, Pride events and outreach workshops.

The Value of Difference

Increased creativity

To maintain our position at the cutting edge of global research, we encourage diversity of thought that explores, develops and promotes new ways of thinking and seeing the world.

Widest possible talent pool

Attracting staff from different backgrounds and with different personal circumstances (visible and non-visible) brings a wider range of experience, leading to improved decision-making and problem solving.

Enhanced employee engagement/productivity

We want our staff to feel included, to bring their true authentic selves to work, and to feel that they are making a valuable contribution to the success of the University.
