Art historian Mike O'Mahony has just published a collection of essays exploring the representation of sport in visual culture. The volume, joint edited with Mike Huggins from the University of Cumbria, brings together an international array of art historians, visual culture specialists and sport historians and examines the importance of visual culture as a vital research resource for understanding sport as a cultural phenomenon in the modern era.

The volume has been described as "a genuinely inter-disciplinary work that will form the starting point for much new thinking about sport and the visual" (Professor Dave Russell, Leeds Metropolitan University).
