Works on Anglo-American cultural relations in literary publishing in the mid-twentieth century; American influences on British literary culture and the ideology of Anglo-Americanism in Britain in the pre-war, wartime and postwar periods.
He has recently completed a doctoral thesis: 'Hamish Hamilton and the Culture of Anglo-Americanism 1931-1972' (Unpublished PhD thesis, University of Bristol, 2001).
Presently engaged in further book-history research to determine and identify the dissemination, popularity and marketability of fiction and non-fiction American writers in Britain between the 1920s and 1960s, prior to the advancement of the transatlantic conglomerisation of British publishing media.
