Prof James Clark left Bristol in March 2013 to take up a chair at the University of Exeter.
Ecclesiastical and intellectual history of later medieval and pre-Reformation England, especially the life and learning of the monasteries down to the Dissolution; also the transmission and reception of the Latin classics; the production and transmission of manuscripts and early printed books, particularly in a monastic context.
Welcomes research (MPhil, MLitt, PhD) proposals on any aspect of later medieval and pre-Reformation church and religion, learned culture and books.
