Research interests

My research interests have focussed mostly on modern French history, with specific emphasis on the social history of Vichy France, and the politics of memory in the postwar period. I am currently turning my doctoral thesis, 'French railway workers under German Occupation, 1940-44' into a monograph. I am also working on two articles based on Holocaust memory in 21st century France. Future projects include a short study of the Jewish memory in sites of ex-internment camps in South-West France, and a much longer study of race in the age of antisemitism.

Teaching

My teaching interests stretch from minorities and migration in 20th century France, to cultural history in Nazi-Occupied Europe, and to the links between justice, genocide and memory in the postwar era.
