The Department is pleased to announce that Karen Allen and Chris Heal have both recently passed their PhD's following successful vivas. Karen's thesis, supervised by Ronald Hutton, was on 'The History of Hallowe'en and Related Festivals in Leeds and its District'. Chris Heal, who was co-supervised by Richard Sheldon and Evan Jones, worked on 'The hatting industry of Bristol & South Gloucestershire, 1540-1900'.
