The format of Futures Café is inspired by Cafe Scientifique, who provide a friendly and informal forum for debate and exchange of ideas. We start with an invited speaker, followed by whole group discussion, followed by informal conversations over refreshments.
The primary participants will be IT staff from IS and across the University, but we would also look to invite library staff, members of the Computer Science department and those with a keen interest or involvement in IT. Most events will be centred around an invited guest speaker but we'll have some internal speakers as well. These events are not open to the general public. If students are interested in attending they are asked to contact the Futures Café administrator.
If possible we will record the speeches and make them available via this website. We will also be introducing a blog for ongoing debate, discussion and information.
Events might take place in the early evening at lunchtime or even breakfast slots, whatever time best suits you.
Likely venues for events are the University Literary Club in Berkeley Square, University rooms, a local pub etc.
