JeS

Background

JeS encompasses most of the Research Councils and is being developed to enable electronic working across a wide range of activities undertaken by the Councils.  The initial focus has been on research proposals.  The University has been registered since November 2004


System Access

Registration / Setting up an Account

Visit the JeS website to register or set up an account.

Anyone may have an account however to perform certain tasks users need to be registered.  For most users this means that Principle Investigators require a registered account.  The University of Bristol has signed up, but have not yet implemented the second, departmental, approval stage.

Initial UoB registrations

Staff considered eligible were bulk registered.  All registered users would then have received an email with their username and password at this time.  If a username or password is forgotten please contact JeS helpdesk.

Ongoing

Staff register themselves then the Finance Office, upon receipt of a JeS system email, confirm the user as a member of the University of Bristol.  Eligibility can be complex and users need to ensure that they comply with the specific schemes terms and conditions.

1.   Am I registered?

Check specific eligibility requirements of scheme.  General rule PI and Dept admin should register.

4.  I am a postgrad – should I register?

See specific eligibility requirements of the scheme.  General rule is that you do not need to register but you can have an account.

5.  Do I need to do a Project Costing Form?

Yes  - the procedures have not changed just the method of delivery.  (Project Costing Form is available from the fEC Costing system)

6. I wish to comment on JeS?

You are able to “report a problem” via the system (top right hand corner of screen) or you may email the JeS helpdesk on JeSHelp@rcuk.ac.uk.
