University of Bristol Denise Coates Foundation Bursary

The Denise Coates Foundation Bursary supports first-year undergraduate students from low income backgrounds who are studying single honours Law. The Co-Founder and Trustee of the Denise Coates Foundation, John Coates, studied Law at the University of Bristol.

Who should apply?

To be eligible to apply for this bursary, you must be:

  • Home UK undergraduate.
  • Holding an offer or awaiting a decision to study a single honours Law course at the University of Bristol Law School in 2019/20.


  • Have an assessed household income of under £42,875.

What is it?

  • Up to 40 bursaries of £2,000 are available.
  • The award is for the first year of study only, and will be paid as a living cost bursary.
