The Role of the Universities in the European Research Area

  • WHAT? 4th EUA Conference and 2nd General Assembly
  • WHERE? University of Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom
  • WHEN? 28-29 March 2003
  • WHO? Heads of European universities, National Rectors' Conferences and invited observers

At the end of March 2003, 250 university leaders from 45 countries in Europe will gather at the University of Bristol to discuss the role of the universities in the emerging European Research Area. This will be one of the important challenges for the European knowledge society in the coming years, not least because of universities’ dual responsibility for research and the training of researchers.

The European University Association (EUA) is the voice of higher education in Europe, representing 34 national rectors’ conferences, 614 universities and eight affiliate members in 45 countries. The EUA's mission is to promote a coherent system of European higher education and research based upon shared values, through active support and guidance to its members, thus enhancing their contribution to society

In order to participate in the conference, please register before the deadline of 31st January.
