“Online Learning Spaces”: Where next for the Virtual Learning Environment?
Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd April 2009
This year’s Easter school looks at how the idea of an online environment for learning has progressed in recent years. It presents some of the latest tools and spaces for online learning and online research, such as:
- Using virtual worlds such as SecondLife in Higher Education
- Latest developments in using Web 2.0 technologies, including microblogging (e.g Twitter), Geotagging, live interactive broadcasting (UStream). **SESSION NOW FULL:**
- Personal Learning Environments – Creating learning environments using personal tools, such as Google tools, Twitter, Facebook, Delicious etc. **SESSION NOW FULL**
- Serious Gaming – Using online games and simulations for learning, feedback and assessment.
- Online spaces for real-time collaboration, learning and research, such as Adobe Connect and Wimba Virtual Classroom
HE teachers and researchers will demonstrate how they are using these innovative technologies. Most sessions will also include opportunities for hands-on experience.
