The Technology Enhanced Learning Advisers Network (Previously known as eLan) is a working group of Education Committee.
1. To conduct internal and external horizon scanning of e-learning practice and developments.
2. To support the development and delivery of a University TEL strategy.
3. To assist Faculties/Departments to develop TEL strategies matched to their teaching and learning objectives.
4. To advise on the development of University, Faculty and School project plans, pilots and the TEL component of new Programmes.
5. To promote the pedagogic benefits of TEL at all levels within the University.
6. To identify and disseminate good TEL practice within and across Faculties.
7. To support training activities provided by ESU
8. To seek funding for TEL activity from both within the University of Bristol and from external bodies, e.g. HEA, JISC, HEFCE etc.
9. To promote communication on e-learning issues between itself, academic staff, the TEL Support Network, the Education Support Unit and IT Services.
10. To report to Education Support Unit, Education Committee, and to liaise with Education Programmes Board and Information Services on TEL issues and priorities.
The network aims to be a relatively informal flexible expert network and as such will not have a budget but will make recommendations through the Chair of TELAN, Director of IT and the Head of the Education Support Unit to appropriate bodies.
1. Support the co-ordination and delivery of the University TEL strategy
2. Assist Faculties/Schools to develop TEL strategies matched to their teaching and learning objectives.
3. Liaise regularly with Dean, Education Directors and Faculty Education Manager to ensure TEL work is integrated into the Faculty’s education strategy and education delivery.
4. Assist the Faculty Education Directors in examining the TEL content of new Programme and Unit documentation.
5. Play an integral part in education development and planning through membership of the appropriate education, and/or education development committees within each Faculty.
6. Promote the benefits of TEL at the Faculty and School level.
7. Make themselves aware of the TEL interests and activity within the Faculty.
8. To work with other Faculty TEL support staff where such exist.
