Plenary Group of FQET Chairs
Please note in 2012 Faculty Quality Assurance Teams were renamed Faculty Quality Enhancement Teams.
The Plenary Group of Faculty Quality Enhancement Team Chairs meets approximately four times a year, usually twice in the autumn term and once each in the spring and summer terms.
FQET Chairs job description.
The Terms of Reference for the Group are:
- To consider annual overviews of external examiner reports and make recommendations to Education Committee as appropriate.
- From the above reports, to identify and determine an appropriate means to disseminate good practice in relation to learning, teaching and assessment and the maintenance of academic standards across the University and to Educational Partners.
- To make annual reports of the findings of FQET teams to Education Committee.
- To receive reports from other sub-committees with responsibility for considering sections of the QAA Code of Practice and make appropriate recommendations to Education Committee about amendments to University policy as appropriate.
- To monitor implementation of teaching quality information relating to External Examining.
- To monitor the submission of Annual Programme Review reports (APR). This includes monitoring their content and quality and suggesting changes to the APR Guidelines and processes as appropriate.
The Group reports to Education Committee.
At the end of each academic year the FQET Chair puts together a Faculty Annual Overview Report covering the activities and outcomes from the FQET visits from that year. The Report includes information on the themes for that year and helps to identify themes which may be adopted for the next academic year. There is a template which gives guidance on the sort of areas which should be covered by the Annual Overview Report. The Annual Overview Report is received by the relevant Faculty Board, the Plenary Group and Education Committee.
The Group identifies core themes from the reports it receives, these and Faculty specific issues are pursued by the individual FQETs in their work with departments during the year.
A flowchart has been designed to try and illustrate some of the yearly processes that FQETs undertake.
