During 2009/10 and 2010-11, the Group has been undertaking an 'assessment review' project, including a review of the University's degree classification, student progression and marking procedures (UoB only).

Membership

The membership of the Steering Group in 2010-11 was: the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education); Faculty Education Directors; Director, Education Support Unit; and Assistant Registrar (Undergraduate Support), Education Support Unit, which is as follows:

Meeting dates

The Steering Group meets annually in the Spring Term, though may, from time to time, meet to discuss and resolve particular issues relating to assessment during the academic year.

Process for identifying changes to the Code

Other working and standing groups of Education Committee that consider assessment-related issues (in particular, the University Undergraduate Studies Committee, the University Graduate Studies Committee, the Plenary Group of Faculty Quality Assurance Team Chairs, and the Examinations Consultative Group) will report any issues (and proposed changes) that have arise relating to the Code during the academic year to the Steering Group for consideration. Faculties and the relevant support services may also raise any issues that they will have had with implementing the Code.

Reporting line

The Assessment Steering Group will recommend to Education Committee any changes to the Regulations and Code of Practice although significant amendments or additions will also need the approval of Senate.

Any urgent issues that arise following the meeting of the Steering Group (i.e. from the examinations process) will be considered by the Chair who may ask for the approval of subsequent revisions to the Code under Chair's action.
