2010-2011 Green Impact Awards
This was the third year of Green Impact at the University of Bristol. We were the first university to do Green Impact and were one of 35 universities running Green Impact Awards this year.
In 2010/11 we tried to keep changes to a minimum we added one criteria to bronze and silver, as always raised the bar a little. We slightly increased the score for bronze plus and silver. We added criteria for sustainable food and health and well being (teaming up with the Sport, Exercise and Health team).
Award levels remained the same, working towards, bronze, bronze plus and silver but you could achieve a gold level by getting 500 points as this was not a competitive award anymore. There were also 3 platinum awards based on the highest scoring departments and an overall winner.
The biggest change for that year was that the workbook was now an on line workbook .

Special Awards, for the additional actions that teams took, included ‘innovation’ and ‘getting students involved in the scheme’. Awards were given for actions such as establishing a car share system developed through an online course booking software and running a clothes swap event raising money for a local charity.
Martin Wiles Head of Sustainability said ‘Green Impact grows from strength to strength each year and this year is no different. We had a strong showing this year from laboratory based departments which I hope to build on next year. I also want to build on the work students are doing on sustainability and link that to Green Impact. Well done to everybody who got involved’.
