For information about travelling by bus, car, coach, bicycle, plane, train or walking please see how to get to the University.
University accommodation is guaranteed to all new international students who apply before the closing date. For information about the various Halls of Residence at the University of Bristol, please see the Accommodation Office website. Do I have to pay Council Tax?
If you are staying in private rented accommodation (not Halls of Residence), you may be asked to pay Council Tax. However, students registered on full-time academic year programmes do not have to pay Council Tax. The Council will have been told that you are a full-time student at the University of Bristol.
If you moved into your private rented accommodation BEFORE the start date of the course, you will be asked to pay Council Tax for that period of time.
However, if the Council contact you and ask you to pay Council Tax, please come to the Main Office at CELFS to ask for a ‘Council Tax Certificate of Full-Time Study’ confirming the details of your course. This document will prove that you are a full-time student.
Please note: if you are living in private rented accommodation with someone who is not a student, you are eligible to pay a certain percentage of Council Tax; the Council will contact you by post.
