Civil Engineering team wins Tata Steel Student Award

A team of four final year students including Sam Watson, Jonathan Stokes and Jos Van Der Boom have won first prize for their design of a structure to enclose a golf driving range to be constructed in a Gulf state. In addition to the driving range, the they also produced initial proposals for a structure in the form of a giant golf ball that forms an iconic reception area for the centre.
The judges particularly commended the students for their considerations of the environmental aspects of the design including construction and decommissioning of the structure.
