Study in Europe and Worldwide with the Department of Aerospace Engineering exchange partners.
France: ENSMA, ISAE-ENSICA
"ERASMUS exchange with ENSMA was very challenging. Despite this the experience was very rewarding and the year I spent there was without doubt the best year of my life." - Stephen, ENSMA
Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (ISAE-ENSICA)
"Ask any Erasmus student how their year abroad was and I can guarantee there is one word that is always used: 'amazing'. Before going to France, and even in the first month at ENSICA, I was sceptical of these rave reviews but now I am the first one giving similar if not more enthusiastic ones! It was challenging and at times I thought I had made the worst decision leaving the safety of Bristol where I knew the professors, knew the university and had a stable group of friends, to go to a completely new system, a new language and into a year group that had already been together for a year and knew each other well. However, everyone was really welcoming and friendly especially in the first few weeks when my French really was not the best. Toulouse is a great student town and for aeronautical engineering it is fabulous! The whole town lives and breathes Airbus. Finishing the year I really feel proud of myself and it has been my best year" - Milica,ISAE-ENSICA
Sweden: KTH, Linkoping
"The prospect of going to live in a foreign country, not knowing anyone there or even the native language, was exciting but daunting. In the end, it turned out to be one of the most interesting, educating, broadening, and downright fun years of my life. I found the facilities and teaching at KTH excellent, with a fantastic campus located just north of the city centre. Most of my courses were taught in English and I never had trouble understanding the lecturers as they, like most Swedes, spoke very fluently. Although my design project was lectured in Swedish, the professor gave out notes in English and took care to make sure I was keeping up and understanding the lectures. Whilst at KTH I attended a guest lecture given by an aerodynamicist from the Volvo Car Corporation. She mentioned they have a summer job in their office and so I applied. I got the job and in mid June after my studies at KTH I moved across Sweden to Gothenburg on the west coast, where Volvo is based." - Jon, KTH
Australia: University of Sydney
"It was truly an enriching experience, socially, academically and life wise, I left Australia with beautiful memories and knowledge and would definitely do it again and advise it to anyone ready for the adventure" - Elliot, Sydney
United States of America
"I strongly recommend students to give a thought about doing a year abroad as this helps you in different aspects in your life and you change into a more mature and responsible human being"- Ashwin, Illinois
"It was definitely the most amazing experience I ever had. I met some great friends and visited wonderful places, I would definitely recommend doing a year abroad, in Davis, but anywhere else as well" - Alex, Davis
"I'd recommend a year abroad to anybody, especially at UCSD. I've gained friends from all over the world, got multi-cultural experience that will hopefully go down well with employers and had the best year of my life!" - Josh, San Diego
"There is much more to do and explore between San Diego and LA. Or if you are more daring like me, take a road trip into the neighbouring states of Nevada and Arizona for a drive in the desert and visit the national parks" - Chao, San Diego
"I found my experience of studying at Purdue hugely valuable and very enjoyable. I was made to feel very welcome on campus and there is plenty of support for students on study abroad programs" - Jamie, Purdue
Singapore: Nanyang Technological University
"There is a vast range of courses available for students to choose from, allowing work to be tailored to the individual's interests and needs" - Jack, Nanyang
This programme gives students the opportunity to study in Europe, during year 3 of a 4 year MEng program. You will study a language option in years 1 and 2 (unless already completely fluent). A good performance in both first and second year exams is required. Some partners teach in English, e.g. KTH; in this case a language is not needed. Transfers to the programme are possible if there is space.
This programme gives students the opportunity to study outside Europe, during year 3 of a 4 year MEng program. Places are awarded on a competitive basis and a strong performance is needed in year 1 exams. A good performance is also required in second year exams.
