The Government has very recently published the initial teacher training (ITT) strategy implementation plan. You can find more on this here. Please note that there are still a number of issues to be settled and our staff may not yet have answers to all of your questions.
We have now received our allocation of places from the TDA and are processing applications. Please ensure that your application is complete (with academic reference and either confirmed or predicted degree class) to allow us to fully assess your suitability.

As well as receiving excellent Ofsted grades in the past, it is indicative of the quality of the course that it is held in high regard by past students and employers. Demand for new teachers fluctuates according to a variety of factors such as changes in the birth rate, government policy on class size, the availability of alternative jobs, the general economic situation and the age profile of the teaching profession.
Nevertheless, each year the vast majority of Bristol students are successful in obtaining a first teaching appointment of their choice: a great many in partnership schools and other local schools.
Each year a small number of students secure posts teaching overseas.
It is currently government policy to pay a training bursary to some PGCE students in England.
For information on this and other sources of support, please see the fees pages.
A strong feature of the course is the individual support and guidance provided for all students.
This comes principally from a dedicated team of university tutors, but also from the experienced mentors in partnership schools, underpinned by the helpful team of support staff in the PGCE office.
Teacher education is demanding, but you are assured of a high level of personal and professional support in a course which is well-managed at all levels.
In addition, the city of Bristol and surrounding area is a location which offers a great deal in terms of cultural and recreational facilities on a relatively compact scale, and one which values and caters for students particularly well.
