Becoming a researcher in the Graduate School of Education

The Graduate School of Education is a leading international centre for research and scholarship.  It has been awarded the top 5* rating in the UK 2001 Research Assessment Exercise.

Our postgraduate programmes bring together a vibrant international community of scholars, of whom over 100 are registered for doctoral studies.  Our students play an integral part in our innovative research culture, which is based on the theme of Culture, Learning, Identity and Organisations (CLIO).

We have an extensive portfolio of funded research projects and internationally recognised researchers, who welcome the contributions doctoral students can make to building capacity around particular research agendas.  Everyone in the community - staff and students - belong to one of our Research Centres which have their own regular research events, seminars and networks.

The Graduate School of Education provides two high quality dedicated work spaces for its doctoral students, and each year there is a research conference led by students themselves.  Students who have completed their studies report on the stimulating, challenging and exciting nature of their experiences.
