Launch of new Bristol History Education Monthly (BHEM) newsletter

15 December 2020

David Rawlings, Senior Lecturer in Education, PGCE History, has launched the Bristol History Education Monthly (BHEM) newsletter.

The aim of the Bristol History Education Monthly (BHEM) is to collate and share the innovative and inspirational work being done by history educators in Bristol and beyond.

BHEM will draw this work together in one easy to access newsletter, to help keep history educators in Bristol informed and connected. The first issue (December 2020), for example, highlights the launch of the CARGO classroom project, the Bristol University PGCE Black scholarship programme and the SHP New Teacher conference, alongside many other projects, programmes and opportunities.  If we can take any positives from 2020, an energised history education community and easier access to professional development are two of these.

David Rawlings joined the History PGCE teaching team in September 2020, having previously been a guest lecturer on the course for the past six years. David said, “I am thoroughly enjoying my new role and am looking to develop the fantastic History PGCE as even more of a hub for excellence in history teaching and learning in the South-West.”

If you would like to receive the BHEM, contact david.rawlings@bristol.ac.uk to be added to the mailing list.
