The 2019 edition of the Bristol Guide is now available

2 September 2019

The new and improved 'The Bristol Guide: a Handbook for Educational Professionals' is now available to purchase from our online shop.

Our annual publication is now available in both print from the universities online shop and, in collaboration with the Bristol University Press, as a fully interactive e-book available on Amazon and other platforms.  This year, our environmentally friendly e-book is now available at an RRP of £7.95, a saving on the printed version.

The SOE publishes the guide as a resource for all professionals working with children and young people in England. It provides guidance about the law and general advice on education professionals' duties legal responsibilities and rights including chapters on equality, child protection and pupil safety.

The 2019/20 edition has been comprehensively revised and updated.

The guide is endorsed by Chartered College of Teaching, NAHT, UCET and NASBTT.  Members of these organisations can now save 10% on the printed version of the guide. Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive, Chartered College of Teaching said, “The Bristol Guide provides a succinct overview of all aspects of the education system in England. Complex organisational relationships and areas of policy are presented in a clear and straightforward way. It is an invaluable primer for those new to the teaching profession or those moving from overseas, but is also a very useful reference guide for experienced practitioners and school leaders!”.

The guide is used extensively by school leaders, governors, qualified teachers, trainee teachers working towards the standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), Teaching Assistants (TAs) and those working towards their Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HTLA) status.

Our website gives more information about the guide and how to get a copy.
