Sixth formers get a taste of university life

12 December 2019

On 11th December, we were pleased to welcome around 80 sixth formers from St Brendan’s Sixth Form College who spent an afternoon at the University of Bristol School of Modern Languages.

The afternoon started with a talk from Gina Robinson, Faculty Engagement Officer, about opportunities for studying languages at the university and about the Access schemes which are available.

This was followed by interviews with 4 student ambassadors who shared their experiences of university life and of the year abroad. For the rest of the afternoon, the pupils took part in a series of workshops which were run by the PGCE MFL students.

We were pleased to receive positive feedback from the pupils who attended; evaluations featured the words ‘fun’ ‘interactive’ and ‘encouraging’. The visit was part of a mentoring scheme which will continue throughout the academic year.
