Autism is primarily seen as a condition defined by communication difficulties which impact the social and behavioural presentation of each individual. However, our daily lives require constant communication with family, friends, at work, and also to take part in research. It is therefore important to understand how autistic people prefer to communicate, in order to support them to do so with minimal anxiety and maximum confidence. Our work surveyed over 100 autistic adults about their communication preferences in a range of settings, and we will be presenting the preliminary findings from that study.
