Randomised Control Trials and the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF): opportunities and challenges

*For GSoE Staff and Doctoral Students only*

This is the third in our series of Research Directors seminars and will be lead by Gemma Moss.

'This session will explore the politics of RCTs in education in the context of a shifting knowledge landscape in England which has seen control over schools fragment and diversify and new knowledge networks emerge. In this context, EEF has become a key player.  In many ways it exemplifies  the move away from the “command and control” approach to evidence-based policy that New Labour championed during their period in office.  But it also occupies an awkward space, operating at some distance from more established knowledge networks and communities of practice in education.  This paper will explore what the response of the academic community should be, to engage, and if so in what terms?'
