Centre for Assessment and Evaluation Research in Education (CAERe)

Background: The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is an international leader in education and training. They provide products and services in skills, training and education which positively impact on individuals, organisations and society.

Sitting at the heart of Scotland’s world-renowned education system, they have 100 years’ experience in developing qualifications and qualification systems and take great pride in ensuring the quality of our qualifications and services, no matter where they are delivered in the world.

They are the national awarding body for Scotland and a not-for-profit government-sponsored agency responsible to the Scottish Government.

Their revenue has traditionally relied upon fees generated by candidate registrations for our qualifications.  They face a commercial challenge to become a self-funding organisation, where the development of additional revenue streams becomes important.

The presentation will provide both a general introduction to SQA and a more specific outline of our commercial activities, exploring the markets they operate in, their service offering and where they see the need to collaborate with partners.
