Work experience placements for Year 10 and 11 students

Work experience

The School of Earth Sciences actively supports and encourages work experience placements for Year 10 and 11 students. We run a one-week work experience programme with 12 places that will be awarded by a competitive selection process. Activities will include lectures and laboratory exercises on a range of Earth science topics and (usually) a fieldtrip to a see some local geology of interest. Priority will be given to students who have a genuine interest in studying an Earth science subject at University. We also seek to support those from widening participation backgrounds. A maximum of one candidate per school will be awarded a place.

The Earth Sciences Work Experience Programme 2019 will run from:-

Monday 1st July – Friday 5th July 2019.

  • a short CV (max 1 page)
  • a covering letter outlining why you would like to do your work experience in the School of Earth Sciences
  • a reference from your School (Please ask your teacher to send this separately. It is your responsibility to ensure that this arrives to support your application)

The deadline date for applications is: Friday 15th February, 2019. 

All applications will be acknowledged and decisions will be made by: Friday 1st March, 2019.
