Earth Sciences Research into deep sea corals and past climate change to be shared with thousands at the Brussels TEDx event on Monday

27 November 2014

On Monday the results of a series of ocean going voyages will be showcased at the biggest TEDx event in the world. Laura Robinson and co-workers have been collecting deep sea corals from seamounts in the Southern Ocean and the Atlantic. They are using geochemical techniques in the Bristol Isotope Group to date fossil corals and analyse the skeletal chemistry allowing them to explore how the oceans have changed over time. The latest field work was a seven week voyage across the Atlantic as part of a European Research Council grant to reconstruct the history of the Atlantic, as well as to investigate the impact of climate change on deep water ecosystems.
