Bernie Wood awarded Mineralogical Society of America's Roebling Medal at this year's Geological Society of America conference

Professor Bernie Wood (formerly of the School of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol ) was awarded the Mineralogical Society of America's Roebling Medal at this year's Geological Society of America conference in Vancouver, Canada, in October. The medal is the MSA's highest honour, conferred annually since 1939, for "for scientific eminence as represented primarily by scientific publication of outstanding original research in mineralogy". Previous winners have included W.L. Bragg, N.L. Bowen and Linus Pauling. Bernie receiving the award at the conference, flanked by MSA president David Vaughan (Manchester) and Professor Jon Blundy who put forward the nomination.
