David Arnold - University of Bristol

Room G8, School of Earth Sciences, Wills Memorial Building

We are pleased to welcome our very own David Arnold who will be delivering this week's Hotstuff Seminar:-

Title: Satellite radar measurements of eruptive products at andesitic stratovolcanoes

Abstract: The distribution and dispersion of lava and ash during volcanic eruptions poses a potential hazard to millions of people around the world, however these processes are not fully understood. Satellite radar data are providing new insights into how eruptive products are emplaced at active volcanoes. In this talk, I will present new techniques combining high-resolution satellite-based synthetic aperture radar phase and amplitude data to map and measure changes in topography and surface backscatter characteristic caused by the deposition of erupted material at andesitic stratovolcanoes in Latin America.

All staff and students welcome.
