What do you need?

Wherever you are in your postgraduate research degree, we can help you reach your personal and professional goals.

Informed by Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework, our PPD programme offers you courses to help you to become an effective researcher and develop the transferable skills that will be valuable for your research project and beyond. Our courses have been mapped against the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF), which is specifically designed to help UK researchers evaluate existing training and experience, and plan future personal and professional development.

The RDF is an international programme dedicated to active career learning and researcher development, to assist postgraduate researchers, their supervisors and others who support the training of postgraduate and early career researchers.

Vitae is the global leader in supporting the professional development of researchers and has a wealth of resources that we recommend you access.

The programme of support available to you through our PPD programme encompasses the wealth of specialist expertise and training provided by Faculties, Schools and Doctoral Training Entities across the whole University. Alongside the BDC-curated programme, these opportunities ensure that you can develop the skills you need to flourish.

Find out how our PPD programme has been designed to help you throughout your full 'lifecycle' as a postgraduate researcher in the Personal and Professional Development 2019-20 (PDF, 1,187kB) leaflet.
