Professional development programme for EPSRC-funded research students

Our pilot Industrial PhD Professional Development Programme is designed to help you build your skills to collaborate with industry

Do you aspire to be successful in your research with industry, addressing real world challenges? Do you feel prepared for your collaborative project with your company sponsor? Do you want to expand your future career options by engaging with a company through a placement opportunity?

Our new programme for Industrial PhD researchers in Science and Engineering will help you prepare for successful collaborations with industry and expand your career options.

Eligible doctoral researchers who take part in the programme will be offered interactive workshops, networking opportunities and placements with a range of companies.

Who’s eligible for the programme?

The programme is open to all doctoral researchers who are funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) and the EPSRC National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF).

How is the programme funded?

As part of the NPIF award, the EPSRC has provided the University of Bristol with funding to support new and current PhD studentships in science and engineering.
Working with NPIF industrial partners, the Bristol Doctoral College leads on the design and delivery of an Industrial PhD Professional Development Programme.

Where can I sign up for upcoming opportunities?

We are currently taking bookings for a skills development workshop on Tuesday 23 January. To ensure you don’t miss out on this session — which will be a valuable opportunity to network, make new connections and get inspired by former PGRs — book your place now on our Eventbrite page.

Information on entrepreneurial training, industry placements and a summer school will be added to this page over the coming months.
