Joseph Gliddon

Joseph as a Senior Digital Education Developer, provides advice and support to University staff in the use and application of new technologies in teaching and learning. He joined Bristol University in 2010 to support the IeLS project, particularly the Content System.  His primary focus is the use of Virtual Learning Environments.

Joseph is currently on a long term secondment to the Student Lifecycle Support Programme working in the Enrolment & Study and Assessment & Feedback projects.

Joseph’s role involves:

  • Support for strategic digital education projects
  • Consultation at Faculty/School level for large scale changes in VLE use
  • Consultation/pilots with Academics using the VLE
  • Use of the VLE to support assessment submission and marking
  • Staff Development workshops

Current interests include cloud computing, content management, eReserves, learning design, collaborative social networks, video use in education, and data integration to support organisational planning.

In his last post Joseph worked for 5 years as the Virtual Learning Environments Manager at City of Bristol College.  Prior to this he worked as an IT trainer for Yeo Valley in the private sector.  Before moving to the south west Joseph worked for London Metropolitan University in a number of roles including IT Support Officer and Visiting Lecturer.
